| What do I need to run an Ad? | |
If you have never done this type of advertising before there are two things you need to have. Tip: If you are looking for some ideas, try this. Go into Google Images and type in the type of ad you are interested in. (ex: 120X60 button; 468X60 banner) You will get back hundreds of images of these types of ads to look at and get some ideas. Notice their content and how they differ from print advertising.You don't need a lot of information about your business on the ad itself. You will have all that on your webpage. Concentrate on phrases to make the visitor want to click your ad in order to learn more. The resources you need are listed below. If you prefer we can do it all for you for a fraction of the cost of local ad agencies. Top Ad Images - Your ad, when completed, will be an image file. These are refered to as "Impressioms". To create a simple banner or button impression you need two basic elements: a background and the text. For a background you can use a specific color, a graphic or a photograph. There are lots of free graphics available on the internet and any color you use is your personal choice. To work with photos on your computer, you will need a way to upload them. This is most often done by connecting your digital camera and uploading according to the user manual. You can also scan in an image or even have non-digital photos developed as a photo cd at your local drug store. Once you have the image on your computer you will need to resize it and add text. The software that came with your camera should have this type of program included but if not, you can purchase inexpensive image editing software online or in any retail store that has a computer section. Once your button or banner ad is properly resized and looking good, you need to save it either as either a jpg, gif or png file. When you're ready to upload your ad, follow the instructions listed in this section. |

How do I create a Website?- There are many ways to create a website these days. You can pay a company to do it for you, you can purchase website creation software, you can sign up with a website store like "Yahoo Business" or use ISP's like AOL's Hometown which let you create free sites. Most web servers also provide the software you need to create your own website. One thing they all have in common is that they cost money. They can cost anywhere from a few dollars a month for a decent server to thousands for a custom made website. If having to design and maintain a dedicated website doesn't appeal to you, there is another way to have a location where someone clicking on your ad can go. This place is called a Landing Page. Top Tip: If you already have a website, consider creating a separate landing page for your link. If visitors are sent to your home page and then have to search around for your what you stated in your ad, your chance for a "conversion" is reduced.Like a website, a landing page still needs the page hosted on the internet. The usual way is to have a Server host the page. As I mentioned earlier, you pay for this. If you're looking for a server, I recommend Startlogic.com. I've been online since 1987 and used many servers over the years. They're the best. If you don't want to spend much money read on..... Top Learn how to do it for Free! If you don't want to spend any money, there are a lot of Free hosting services out there. As long as you are willing to put up with a lot of their advertising or other restrictions, most of them are fine.. Be sure to read the terms of service before you sign up. Make sure you are not giving them permission to upload any hidden tracking software or spyware. Most honest sites do not do this sort of thing anymore but it pays to check. Here's a listing of free website servers for you to research. Try and find one that has a web site building program. You will use this software to build your landing page. You can also use Microsoft word to create your landing page. Just be sure to save it as HTML and not a .doc file. Another Free way to get your landing page on the web is through the use of Blogs. Upon joining most Blogs allow you to create your own home page. You can create one right here at Canuffalo. Join the Canuffalo Blog and you can create your own member page to use as you like. There are many other blogs out there you can join such as Squidoo, MySpace and Facebook to name just a few.. Other places where you can set up a free landing page are online classified ad websites like usfreeads.com. You can also use the Free classified ad section we have right here on Canuffalo.Learn How! It's an 8 week internet marketing course that teaches you all phases of this multibillion dollar industry.
